I think we should have a competition for the most woolly piece of nonsense ever to leave a politicians mouth....sound bites with no teeth >:D sentences that go no where....

The worst (therefore best) i can remember is Blair's "the hand of history is on our shoulders" drivel......

Can anyone do better (p.s. - try to keep it recent rather than too historical). I am sure Prescott is a gold mine for this one... ;) (good old two-shags...)

What about the bit just before " the hand of history"? :)

One of my favourites from recent years:

http://www.number-10.gov.uk/output/Page1599.asp

"Whatever the technical or legal issues about the declaration of war, the fact is that we are at war with terrorism." ( Tony Blair, 2001)

It takes a remarkable sort of illiteracy to use the phrase the fact is in that sentence.

By contrast: " Someone has described a technicality as a point of principle which we have forgotten" ( Sir Elwyn Jones, 1966)

I think it was Paul Boateng (scum-de-la-scum), who was quoting advice he was given on first being elected, (can't remember who the original quote was from):

1 Never give a straight answer to a question
2 Never try to explain
3 Never say you're sorry

John Prescott, 'when plates appear to be moving, everyone positions themselves for it'.
