Saw this on downtime a USB powered Chainsaw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjFlbNIo4QU) ;D

What will they make USB powered next I wonder? ::)

So what exactly does the USB do except provide power? I can't see the PC actually doing anything other than pretending to be a battery pack.

USB 2.0 is rated to supply a maximum of half an amp at 5V, in other words, 2.5 watts. You can't power much of a saw with that, and I'm pretty sure the demo cutting through the chair is using a lot more power than that. Maybe it's just a battery saw that can be recharged (slowly) from USB (big deal), which would probably drain the PC battery pretty quickly.

Ah, a holier-than-thou "be a good little consumer" preaching web site. Not really surprising. Just the sort of thing to make people think "Sod the environment if all I'm doing is making myself look good in the eyes of these twerps!".

More to the point, everyone I've told about it, tonight, is keen to download the app, because having a chainsaw sound-effect whenever you print anything is really quite cool! ;D
