Nice, thanks.
Excellent. Thanks. I think Shermer and Dawkins have a similar sense of humour. I've read "Weird Things" and "The God Delusion" this year, and they have both influenced my way of thinking enormously. I am not scientifically trained, but I am now trying to think in a rational, scientific and skeptical way. My problem is, I inherit rather emotional ways of reacting to events from the Ma.
Still, we all need a personal challenge.
EDIT. And the website itself is very interesting. I came across a clip of Sagan explaining the forth dimension, but I got side-tracked, and lost the link.

I could say the same thing, and my problem could have stemmed from a lack of guidance, emotional and otherwise. I struggled on alone. Sounds like you might know what that feels like.
Been watching so many videos like that one since I came on here. Quite the eye opener.

Carl Jung was a man caught between the rational and the mystical. It is said that he dreamed of his own death.
Jung developed the theory of 'synchronicity'. Many have since argued that synchronicity could be a process where the mind is active in the world.
In other words, our thoughts can have an active role in organizing the world and our lives. Combined with the collective unconscious, synchronicity, if proved, could go a long way to explaining a great deal of paranormal phenomena.
People, this fits in with my belief that we create our own reality from the thoughts we entertain. Your thoughts on he theory of 'synchronicity?

http://www.csicop.org/specialarticles/fortunes.html
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer of April 27, 2007 (O’Reilly and Vitez 2007), Philadelphia’s fortune tellers failed to foresee the forced closure of their shops. Citing a state law that had been on the books for decades and that banned fortunetelling for profit, city inspectors began to force astrologers, psychics, and tarot-card readers to shut down. Having been alerted by police to the law, which makes fortunetelling “for gain or lucre” a misdemeanor, an official of the city’s Department of Licenses and Inspections said no arrests had been made or fines issued. However, he promised that inspectors would do so “if these people try to return to work” (O’Reilly and Vitez 2007).
More...........
Well I dunno! Who is this person? I've now watched several of these videos. I can't work out if he/she is male or female, how young - definitely South African with an amazing gift of the gab and completely bi-lingual in Afrikaans and English (all videos are one take) all put on the Internet very recently (from 10th August) covering all sorts of different dead people including this message from the Archbishop of Paris which I think will confirm!!what a lot of us feel about "religion".....
Well you have to admit life is fun........
Synchronicity is really just applying meaning to coincidence. Meaning that isn't really there. It's a form of Apophenia.
Apophenia being one explanation for people who believe they are psychic. They see patterns in randomness and assign meaning to them that isn't there.
.
This young lady emanates from this site http://www.desteni-universe.co.za/
which purports to give the answers to the conundrums of existence via messages from various sources, but on further perusal appears to be a soapbox for some very negative views indeed, albeit slickly presented.
Although it dangles the carrot of messages from "missing children and the recently departed" I think it's a different kettle of fish to the average psychic wannabe.
Anyone have independent info on this site?
John,
Can you seriously say you don’t see a pattern in something and can make a guess at what is going to happen next?
Why can’t we just all be the same. Life would be so simple.
I browsed quite a bit - there is a "Kryon" link which was Lee Carroll's contact's name who channelled aliens. But this mob is not "inspirational" in the same vein at all....I couldn't understand a thing - and I speak woo! The pages were charcoal, or black - so in order to read anything I had to paste into word - I hate that - a site like that gets 0/10 from me, there is a forum - I actually had a vague impulse to join just to ask some awkward questions. You could even do that in woo! I wondered why they are suddenly flooding the Internet with their stuff? You don't seem to have to buy it - and nowhere do they ask for money....mmmmmBut I see you have a "Desteni Educational lifestyle advisor" so I just wondered if they have a "centre" or something....
But, the reason I got pulled in to watching the videos was because I recognised the accent and the sound of the birds in the background and I'm absolutely sure they are very close to where I used to live - the bank account details confirmed it.....The Afrikaans messages had entertainment value for me - I haven't heard Afrikaans for many years - so to listen to it being rattled off so eloquently was quite fun!![]()
