Has he cancelled a show due to "unforeseen circumstances" yet?

See, I can't even predict the past reliably!

Yes, I know what you mean. Memory - I simply can't remember the last time I lost mine.

And I'll probably have grey hair by the time I'm 30.

This 'Psychic surgery' disgusts me deeply! People who believe in this and avoid normal medical help, really need psychological help.

If the media, professional bodies and charities would make a stand against parasites like Gary Mannion fewer people would be taken in by them in the first place. The local newspapers who are happy to give the woos free publicity in the form of uncritical articles and interviews won't publish carefully researched exposes of their methods for fear of alienating woo-friendly readers.

And if it comes back, I can’t get rid of it a second time. My healing doesn’t work a second time."

    From the BBC Press Office.

    Young, Psychic And Possessed

Twenty-year-old Gary Mannion describes himself as Britain's youngest psychic surgeon.

He says he can cure all manner of serious illnesses by channelling the spirit of the Bible's Abraham to operate on the sick.

In Young, Psychic And Possessed, film-maker Emeka Onono follows Gary as he tries to prove that he really does have the power to heal.
It's a journey that is likely to confound sceptics and true believers.

Emeka hears stories of miracle cures, takes part in seances and even speaks to "Abraham", before turning to science and psychiatry to try to separate fact from fiction.

A BBC News And Current Affairs production.

Louis Theroux - where are you? There's work to be done.

Could it be the BBC haven't actually seen the film - the last I heard it wasn't finished. I wonder how sceptics and believers can both be confounded.

Much as I don't want to pre-judge, by a mish-mash that tries to keep believing viewer and skeptic viewer happy at the same time (and failing miserably)

That's standard fare at the BBC these days, treat both sides of the argument equally.

I wonder if a few religious people will take offence at Gary's claims?

Maybe someone should let Stephen Green know that Gary is a blasphemer!

I was just going to say the same. I hope I'm wrong and that this is treated factually, but most BBC (and other) documentaries of this nature treat it as "some people believe" and "some people don't believe" - we present both sides as if it is a 50:50 issue and you can make up your own mind.

I don't hold out much hope of this being any good.
