    Is David Icke a con man?

    There are many views on Icke:

    - He is only out to make money from his wild allegations;
    - He is feeding an already overinflated ego;
    - He never renounced his wild assertion that he is the son of god. Did he?
    - His books are simply copied and pasted from his earlier books, and those are summaries of other people's conspiracy theories;
    - He refuses to answer questions on his wild allegations, unless you pay him a tenner!
    - A little knowledge is a very dangerous thing, and Icke's knowledge is very patchy;
    - He is leading an easily lead section of the population astray with his wild, ill thought out theories;
    - His 'website headlines' are more hate fuelled than any of the people he criticises.

    Does he want locking up?

    Your thoughts...

    Hi! Welcome. Funny, that’s what brought me here too.

    I had been reading on his forum and decided to post here in order to get some perspective on DI’s claims.

    People around here were very helpful.

    Good luck with your enquiries.

    If he isn't a con man, then he is a very very sick man indeed.

    I don't think he is mentally well at all. Especially at the beginning, his sanity must really have been in question.

    With some people there does appear to be a very thin line between their belief and their lies. With him, I suspect he believes some of it, knows some of it is BS, but is prepared to push it all for whatever benefits it brings him.

    I'd question the sanity of his followers as well. The number of times he has what could be considered an almost reasonable belief is outnumbered a thousand times by complete luncacy. Anyone that places their faith in this man is just nuts.

    I believe david icke had a nervous breakdown and created a fantasy reality in an attempt to recover some sanity. It hasnt worn off, so hes either insane or normal, but manipulating his alter egos ideas to generate publicity and cash from book sales and lectures.

    Sometimes it is nice that the stupid have somewhere to go, where they don't bother the rest of us.

    The fact that on the internet, they go to Icke's site is a good thing.
    Mousse from a bowl is very nice, but to put it on a person is demented!

    DI speaks out about the New World Order, if I am correct in saying so? He also alleges that President George Bush is part of the Illuminati and that his name in this very secret sect is Temporary?!

    I am very surprised that he has not been locked up for being so outspoken against the Bush Administration. Saw a video of him and some other cranks and was truly shocked to hear what they had to say. We wondered how they got away with all what was said...???

    Is DI a conman? He's doing a great job making lots of money out of it!

    Didn't know he had a website, nor do I want too, as I viewed him on video. I am sorry you had such a bad experience.

    I heard the he was hit by lightning, and his strange trip started after that. According to the neuroscience for kids newsletter:

    "Lightning can cause paralysis, memory and concentration problems, headaches, emotional and personalities changes and movement disorders. There are several possible ways that the brain can be damaged by lightning. First, lightning may cause injury to blood vessels of the brain. Bleeding inside of the head and in the brain (epidural hematomas; subdural hematomas; intraventricular hemorrhage) has been reported to occur in patients. Smaller blood vessels in the brain stem may also be damaged. Second, the heat of the lightning may destroy brain tissue. Third, the brain appears to swell after a lightning strike. This swelling can damage the brain. Fourth, damage to cells in the cerebellum and medulla may occur. Fifth, damage to the sympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system may explain some of the behavioral symptoms that occur after a lightning strike."

    Well, that's the last time I go out in a thunderstorm without my portable lightning conductor...

    Re: Is David Icke a con man?

    I used to debate (read argue wildly) conspiracy theorists who were heavily into David Icke.

    I looked into Icke and quickly came to the conclusion that he has some sort of mental illness and that the media, shamelessly, exploited this for the sake of ridiculing him. That's disgusting IMO.

    I also came to realise that his inane writings attracted people like him and that his followers are also highly likely to have mental issues too.

    I debated several of them and did actually get a couple of them to admit that they'd had psychiatric problems in the past (one of them was treated for paranoia) and this led me to give up arguing with such people.

    If people have mental issues, particularly regarding things like paranoia, then the idea of the Illuminati and other malevolent, secret societies that are controlling us etc. is very appealing.

    So yes, their way of thinking seems incredible to us and the things they believe too way out to comprehend, but I would say that a lot of these people are attracted to such ideas due to various forms and levels of psychiatric disorder.

    If you appreciate that then their way of thinking becomes a bit more understandable.
