You have to wonder why the name was put in the poll if they thought it was inappropriate.
I'm absolutely fuming with anger and totally disgusted with this latest revelation of the sleaze that goes on with phone-in competitions.
The latest scandal has really taken this sort of deceptive scam to new lows.
It seems that the BBC, and their children's flagship programme Blue Peter, has cynically, and cold heartedly shattered children's hopes and desires by callously avoiding their voted of choice and given a different name to the phone-in choice of name for the Blue Peter cat.
See here: for this travesty.
Inappropriate? The name that came top is thought to have been deemed inappropriate for a children's show and the cat was eventually called Socks following the vote.
So what did the kids vote for this cat to be called that was so inappropriate? - Twatface?
I think heads should roll, and I will NOT be paying my licence fee in protest.
And as this happened last year, I won't pay next year's either as a sort of retrospective future action.....
There now!

Better sorry than safe.
Online rumour is "pussy"

Lol!! So funny.
Yes, I had a look and 'Pussy' seems to be the favourite. Although 'Twatface' is cool!!![]()

I love this. Rude or not....

I love the dog that shouts...' I waaant it...!'
Thanks John. I've got a feeling I will always think of the Blue Peter cat as 'Twatface' after this.

According to BBC News the vote-winner was "Cookie". To cool the situation Blue Peter are getting another cat and calling it "Cookie".

I usually get accused of having a sick and twisted mind, but I really can't think of any way "Cookie" could be an inappropriate name. I also still have to question why they would put a name in the vote if they didn't think it was appropriate.
Better sorry than safe.
Cookie???
Well....I'm offended....![]()
Why is cheese?
Cookie? If there's an innuendo there, it escapes me.
But I'm the wrong person to ask. Has anyone on the forum got children of an age to watch Blue Peter?
HA! I'm so naive, I thought they wouldn't let them have the name "Cookie" because it would encourage kids to eat junk food... Then I saw Matt's link![]()
Meh!
Anyway, I think it's all just a lie to cover their backsides... No kid of BP age would think that "Cookie" was a bad name... Yuck, shame on the BBC!
Are you quite sure about that? :-)
I don't know what age-group BP now appeals to, as I haven't had a TV for many years. But when I was a sprog, one of the playground insults was Elmer. It was rhyming slang- think of cartoon characters.

We'd have thought it hilarious to persuade BP to call one of their pets Elmer. And I'm not at all sure that children have changed so much since then...
