Didn’t anyone do the experiment then?
Zaira's Blog Thread ~
Taking a leaf out of Tim's book, I would like to begin a thread of my own, my own little Blog thread. I have 515 posts on here, and I'm being pulled up on things I don't even remember writing. I plan to start from scratch and tell you all about Me!! Then you can tell me what my problem is. Okay?
Oh! One more thing... Don't piss me off! Cause I'm running out of places to hide the bodies!!
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only."
A Tale of Two Cities - Charles Dickens (1812 - 1870)
Relax. I'm in no danger of straying into any deep philosophical waters.
For the duration of your stay in my thread, try to imagine that we are all human beings just trying to get along in this crazy old world.
The after life doesn’t need to exist for someone to say they believe in an after life. It may just be a comforting thought.
Life is for living, whatever else comes to each of us is a bonus. Yes, even the bad stuff can be a bonus if we are willing to see the lesson in it.
The sun comes up and the sun goes down and life goes on. Smile!
Anything written here is quite simply my interpretation of life in general and my life in particular. Whose else could it be?
I'm sure everyone on this forum can relate to some small part of me, otherwise what would be the point of all this? There would be no questions, no curiosity and definitely no answers.
Okay. Who is up for a little experiment? Tomorrow I want you to look for a white feather. Start your day by thinking, "Today I will see a white feather." Let me know what happens.
Didn’t anyone do the experiment then?
Hi Zaira
I didn't go looking for a white feather today, but I did see one!
But then again I see white feathers most days. As I spend my working life using my eyes to "look" at things rather than just avoiding walking into things, I'm not that surprised.
One question... What is the purpose of your experiment?![]()
The Colonel,
I'm playing a little game trying to test some theories of mine about the law of attraction. If you're up for it, tomorrow look for a blue feather. I realise white feathers are the most common. I was making that one simple. Baby steps for people who had never tried it before.
Does it count if they're still attatched to a bird?
You do realise that your experiment won't show anything except that we notice things more if we're looking for them? For example, I live very near a power plant, but I hardly ever notice it's there unless I'm actually thinking about it. Do you believe my thoughts cause it to constantly appear and disappear? Or is it just that I don't always notice it if I'm not paying attention?
Better sorry than safe.
It's from a book. I just thought it might be interesting to ask a Skeptic to try it.

Are we still doing this, or is that the end of it?
I started the day thinking blue feathers, and I was out for several hours in various places.
I won't say whether I saw one or not, because it seems to me that the methodology of this experiment (or whatever it is) is seriously flawed.
Firstly, as regards me personally, you don't know who I am - whether I am an honest person or a congenital liar. You don't know if I am participating in a positive way, or whether I find a perverse pleasure in giving inaccurate information.
More importantly, you have not ascertained if I know what a feather looks like, so that I would recognise one if I saw one, or that I can discriminate blue from any other colour.
Also, I have no proof of my sighting or non-sighting. I was out alone. If I saw the feather I did not bring it home with me, not did I photograph it.
My evidence would be entirely anecdotal, and of unproven authenticity.
Whatever I say, you would be well-advised to take no notice of it whatsoever.
So are we still doing this then?
M.
Muttley,
That's the end of it. I wasn't having a very good day and I thought it might have been a bit of fun. But I was mistaken. So I posted the link to show where I got the idea from.
