    You want fries with that?
Mousse from a bowl is very nice, but to put it on a person is demented!

Will you need Mc-A levels to get a Mc-Job in future?

Every child would get A+, then it would be classed as 'too easy'. At least they'd be able to make burger and chips with regular coke and not starve
I have not failed... I've just found 10,000 ways that don't work!

Spotted today on the BBC News site:
"Some private Muslim and Christian schools in England are to have their own joint inspection body. The government has approved the setting up of a new independent inspectorate which will mean the schools involved will not be checked by Ofsted."
So the believers' schools will be checked by believers. Let's hope the new body isn't staffed by young Earth Creationists!

    But the article adds,

England's schools inspectorate Ofsted will regularly vet the new body to check on standards.

Yes, I did jump in a bit quickly there. I hope Ofsted's brief covers more than exam results. A faith school could and probably often does teach many subjects well. A creationist could teach French or maths, for example, without compromising his own beliefs.

Just as an aside, independent schools are not obliged to adhere to the National Curriculum, though most do. But according to this article, that situation might be about to change.

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/lif...cle2872801.ece

Mr Spinney and the other main associations representing independent schools are discussing whether their members should move away from the national curriculum. They are not obliged to follow it.

Oh I do hope so. I've spent too many years just wishing they'd teach them how to think before they get beyond A levels. If they actually move towards teaching them something as well ...

"The Government is increasingly putting a social agenda into the equation. It has an issue about multicultural society and subjects such as slavery. What we’re interested in is knowledge, rigour and fundamental skills."

In the hands of sensible people like this I can see the relevance. How long before faith schools are extended the same latitude?
