I thought that " Punk Science" had to be a spoof. Wrong again:

By the way, is it just me, or is the site design a bit sudden?
ETA: dammit, bw beat me to it.
Some readers might have come across my write-up of Gary Mannion's demo of "psychic surgery" on the 4th of this month. It was presented by "Alternatives", who use the lovely church of St James's, Piccadilly, to promote their stuff. When I went, I picked up the "Alternatives" brochure, but to be honest, I only used the front cover to note Mannion's lunatic ideas. I didn't look inside.
Well, I have now. There is so much, but I ain't got the energy to post, but I will try this.
April 7th - "Putting the Soul Back into Science". Manjir Samanta-Laughton.
"This talk will reveal how the cutting-edge of physics, biology and cosmology is giving us a new vision of the cosmos and putting the soul back into science. We will explore how the physics of consciousness, quantum theory, string theory and the science of black holes can now explain esoteric phenomena that were previously seen as "paranormal", such as psychic abilities and chakras. These radical new theories, which reference the latest data from astrophysics, dramatically change how we relate to ourselves and our universe, revealing that we are infinitely creative beings of light.
Dr Manjir Samanta-Laughton became a medical GP, a bio-energy consultant and a holistic doctor at the Bristol Cancer Help Centre, before embarking on a quest to explore the links between science and spirituality. Her book Punk Science: Inside the Mind of God reveals a radical new theory that places consciousness at the heart of the cosmos."
But, you see, neither "Alternatives" nor St James's church endorse any of this. "Alternatives" just make money out of it.

bw,
I see from the site that " The paradigm of science has come to a grinding halt."
Now, I hadn't known that paradigms are meant to whiz about. So I've learned something new already...

"The intuition of a measureless Other lies behind the spiritual experience of many of us. The practice of opening ourselves to the ever-present love of Amida is the profound message of Pureland, a form of Buddhism, until recently, relatively unfamiliar in the West..............................."

And I thought my little booklet from the crystal shop was full of shite.....................

Wow: she's attended one of only two showings of 'What the bleep do we know?'.
And she's "also known as Dr. Munchie".
There's another link with Gary: "Indigo Children".

Dr Manjir Samanta-Laighton a former Derbyshire GP turned author, believes there is a clear scientific basis to the concept of Indigo Children. Research has shown that the answer could lie deep in our DNA structure, with the information contained in the molecules of each individual gene, she says;" It is just the next step in evolution, a natural progression," says Dr Samanta-Laughton, who is publishing a book,Punk Science, which explores the scientific background to Indigo Children, in October.

I keep getting this terrible feeling of deja woo.
Hey guys
I'm really flattered. Finally get the thumbs up from UK skeptics. I don't post on forums, but you have made me so happy.
You have done me the honour of not checking out any of my work properly, especially the astrophysics, so that you truly feel in the position to give me a fair and balanced review.
You have just fully initiated me into the legions of the scientific mavericks. Thank you.
Cheers!
Dr Manjir Samanta-Laughton
