P.S.
Why am I not surprised he works in the United States?
Oh dear oh dear. I just came across this in Times Online.
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...icle673663.ece
'THE scientist who led the team that cracked the human genome is to publish a book explaining why he now believes in the existence of God and is convinced that miracles are real.
Francis Collins, the director of the US National Human Genome Research Institute, claims there is a rational basis for a creator and that scientific discoveries bring man “closer to God” '
While he was about it, he might have studied the genome of some really nasty germ or virus. Would that have brought him closed to the Big Guy?
P.S.
Why am I not surprised he works in the United States?
I wonder if any neuroscientists are religious?
looks like a classic watchmaker argument to me.![]()
De omnibus dubitandum
why are all these born again types soo pompus? they all think that they can see into the mind of a being who creats a universe that runs in time but knows everything that is going to happen from the very start to the finish. i don't think anyone can fatham a mind like that.I can’t help but look at those pages and have a vague sense that this is giving me a glimpse of God’s mind.”
still it just goes to show: theres one reborn every minet.
Here is a neurosurgeon who is quite certain a god exists.
that is understandable, in the usa you have to be a god botherer to progress in your carrer, go with the group norm sort of thing. just because hes a doctor does not mean hes inteligent, all you need is a good memory. the british a level exam was designed in the early 20th century to find children with good memories to be doctors and solisitors. haveing a good memory has always been confused with inteligence.![]()
I've never heard that about the A-Level but having a quite appalling memory, I chose the sciences because you don't have to remember much, just be able to work it out. Incidentally, I acquired my A levels at Darwen Grammar School which a long time ago was quite near you.
