I find that quite sad. I think somebody should be out there counter-protesting the warped-morality brigade.Scientists are being discouraged from attending Parliament on Monday to show their support for proposed embryology and fertility legislation.
Documents obtained by BBC News show the Medical Research Council (MRC) believes any lobbying of MPs would be "counter-productive".

Used we not to be tremendously impressed by the fact that Thatcher once worked in a lab of some sort?
Don't know if it's still true, but it used to be said that the person in parliament who made the most use of technology was dear old Benn. I suspect most of 'em never learned to set the timer recording thingy on their VCR.

De omnibus dubitandum
I always thought it was a myth that Thatcher developed the awful "Mr Whippy" ice-cream. Not true, apparently.

And this from the Telegraph....
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/wine/main.../ixedmain.htmlOne of the first jobs undertaken by a young Margaret Thatcher was to discover ways to "inflate" ice cream with air and boost its value - to some, a neat analogy for her later activities.
Seren,
sincere apologies for wandering off your serious post.
Leading lady and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990. Before that she was Education Secretary from 1970 to 1974 under Edward Heath whom she successfully challenged for the Conservative leadership in 1975. She was born Margaret Hilda Roberts in Grantham where her father, Alfred Roberts, ran a grocers' shop and served as an Alderman. Margaret was an academically bright, if not universally popular, schoolgirl who went onto Somerville College, Oxford in 1944 to study chemistry. She worked as a research chemist for British Xylonite and Lyons & Company, where she helped develop mister whippy ice cream.
