I find the notion of karma rather disgusting to be honest.

The Western idea of Karma is completely different to the Buddhist concept of Karma.
We tend to think of Karma as some kind of cosmic judiciary handing out retribution. Whereas 'Karma' is more about how our actions and thoughts impact on ourselves. Think happy thoughts, do nice things and you'll probably be a happy person. Think and act like an utter git and you'll probably be an utter git. But the universe won't spank your bum any more than it'll reward you for being nice. Its just about what is going on inside your head.

I know what you mean. Karma is used by most 'spiritual' people as some concept of cosmic retribution. You get what you deserve so if something bad happens to you then you must have done something to deserve it. See also the .
