Hooded figures are common among ghost reports. It is probably because triangular, rather than round, head shape is more commonly encountered in likely situations for misperception - consider how many triangles are formed by the branches of trees compared to circles. Expectation or suggestion affects what is seen, if anything. Those who saw the hooded figure in the previous post were expecting to see one. Some people are more susceptible to this sort of thing than others.

I agree, and I am doubtful that any other member of the group would have seen anything if the girl had not made the initial claim. But this goes some way to explaining reports of group sightings of ghosts. In this case I believe there was nothing to be seen, yet at least six people witnessed something they believed to be paranormal.

Quote Flanders from Astonishing claims Thread
"Sadly, I was contacted by her husband some eighteen months later saying the woman's sister had been killed in a vehicle accident, something which he claimed had been predicted in great detail and accuracy by his wife (importantly, this, he assured me, was unknown to the sister). If I had not been so arrogant as to dismiss the personal side of this woman's claim maybe I would have found some evidence towards the possibility of precognitive dreams."

The obvious question that arises is what happened to your skeptical skill set on this occasion? If you do not witness what others have witnessed, then skepticism is OK, but if you are presented with superficial evidence suggesting that you might be wrong, you immediately turn to torturing yourself unless you can disprove the claim!
