    Talking Immortal jellyfish

A type of jellyfish has been found that can apparantly return to a juvenile state after mating.

I think its almost inevitable that scientists will figure out how this happens and how to replicate it in mice.

    Re: Immortal jellyfish

I know a lot of humans who return to a juvenile state after drinking.

    Re: Immortal jellyfish

Jellyfish and other simple invertebrates are so different to us that this may well not have any application to mammals. My guess would be that what is being seen is more like generations of the species than one creature living on and on. I don't know the details, but as it has no brain and if the same cells have not made it from one adult phase to the next then is it really immortal?

I think the article mentions transdifferentiation somewhere.

I wouldn't really call it fun (many mice will suffer before something like this could ever be considered safe for a human).

Well, they are hyperintelligent pan-dimensional beings who are running the whole place as an experiment.

Is that where a cell changes into a different kind of cell? It's not quite what I was thinking of, but I can't remember all the proper words in my old age.
