Over complicating diet doesn't help either. Eat your greens and put down the jaffa cakes ect. I'm fat because I over eat. There really is no other reason.

The End of Overeating by David Kessler

Quote
“DOES the world really need yet another book about how to lose weight? It does, if that book happens to be written by a former commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration.
As FDA commissioner under the first George Bush and Bill Clinton, DavidKessler crusaded against the tobacco companies and their conspiracy to keep smokers hooked. Now back in academe at the University of California, San Francisco, Kessler is battling another major public health problem: the rising tide of obesity. The End of Overeating is both his diagnosis of the problem and a prescription for its treatment.”
So fellow fatties would you buy yet another diet book, this book supposedly different from the usual run of the mill diet fad books.
We already know our food tastes good so what’s new, well the reviewer seems to be suggesting that this is a more scientific approach I will need convincing that it is worth $26 that’s about £20 probably.
Perhaps Queen Judy will review the book then I can borrow it from a sucker who has bought it, another money saving tip.![]()

Spending £26 to line your bookshelf is certainly easier than dieting.
Or you could do what my brother in law does, spend 50 quid on Alli tablets (fat blocker) then don't eat them if he's having a fatty meal. Brilliant.
Mousse from a bowl is very nice, but to put it on a person is demented!
Defendants might as well have said: Beneficent creatures from the 17th dimension use this bracelet as a beacon to locate people who need pain relief and whisk them off to their home world every night to provide help in ways unknown to our science.

Is it possible to put a thread on the "ignore list"?
Alli in my eyes is a huge marketing con anyway. It's only effective for those who can't otherwise cut down on the fat in their meals. But it is pretty much targeted at the whole population. I think the accompanying leaflet says you need a BMI over 28 or something, but its so easy to get that a lot of people will be using it anyway.
So, the side effects mentioned above only really happen if you eat fatty meals. The side effects are so unpleasant that you need to bring your fat consumption levels down to the recommended level of 15g per meal, or 3g per snack (I think).
If Alli is then blocking half the fat per meal, you are looking at possibly 25g per fat per day being 'blocked'.
Which is about 225 calories. Which is pretty insignificant in the scheme of things. You can achieve that by small adjustments to portion sizes or choosing lower calorie options.
A pound of fat contains 3500 calories - so the difference Alli makes (if you stick to the recommended fat levels) would mean you lose a pound of fat every 15 days or so. How many dieters (the type of people) who are looking for a quick fix are going to be happy with half a pound weight loss per week?
Of course, if you are the type of person who has no understanding of the way weight is gained from high fat food, Alli may be effective in making you switch to lower calorie non-fatty foods. That's dependent on you sticking to the tablets.
Or you can do as my brother in law does, just don't take the tablet when you have a fatty meal.

Take Alli tabs + Fatty meals = lose friends with sense of smell.
Eat a sensible well balaced diet gain freinds back and lose weight.
A difficult choice.![]()
Apparently if you drink or eat lo-fat dairy products with every meal (glass of skimmed milk etc) you double the amount of fat that you would normally excrete and thus absorb less fat.
I believe it has to do with calcium attaching itself to fat so its not absorbed but just passes through your system. I wonder if those "pills" work in the same manner?
