    Checked out my 3 siblings

Dawn (oldest) - Billy J Kramer and the Dakotas - Bad to me (written by John Lennon)

Peter (next oldest) - The Beatles - I feel fine. 8)

David (Second youngest) - The Beatles - Hey Jude

Me (Yougest) - Clive Dunn - Grandad

I feel somewhat short changed here.

Ha! Spring chickens all of you! I was born just over 2 years before there was a no. 1 in the UK!

2 years before? I thought you were much younger. Your nickname sounds so teeny-like.

This Internet thing can be so misleading, can't it?

My nickname comes from a Larry Niven story from 1968, when I was a teen(y) - but I only adopted it in 1990.

you adopted it in 1990? You're already in the internet since 1990?

    (it's really misleading sometimes)

Pre-Internet dial-up message board stuff ... a service called Telecom Gold. I got on the Internet in 1994.

That's interesting. You must have seen the whole development of the internet and such services.

Well, the ARPAnet, on which Internet was based, went back to the 1960s and 1970s, but I got on the Internet pretty soon after it was available to the general public in the UK. Demon Internet was then a tiny company operating from an office about a kilometre from where I live, run by a bunch of helpful geeks - unlike the corporate monstrosity the company has developed into now. The standard software all fitted on a floppy disk, ran of MSDOS and used a network connection program called KA9Q plus some simple programs for editing and displaying emails etc.

it seems you're a real freak. You had all these things from the beginning. I guess you needed that for your job too? Cause, the common people hadn't such things at home.

I remember when also video games fitted on a floppy disk. That were times.
And if someone had told me when I was 12, I could chat on a computer with people all over the world one day, I had ........ unthinkable.

I suppose I was 12 when I read the first magazine about computers and programming. Even though I had not even seen a computer in real at that time.

It's amazing what happened to our world, isn't it?

I was born on the day Hilary and Tenzing reached the top of mount Everest. It was the year Watson and Crick elucidated the structure of DNA. On this basis, I am not really that bothered about what was at number 1 in the "hit parade" (wasn't that what it was called)?

Not at all, although unlike 30, I may need a stepladder to get over that darn hurdle, I swear they are making them higher nowadays. 8)
