I've made a major new discovery - para-nature! it is like the nature we know and that scientists study but excitingly different.
Some examples: insects cannot be flying rods because they fly too fast, too slow, are too big or too small, are not found inside or outside buildings, etc.
Similarly, dust does not form orbs because it is too small, too common, not common enough, too shiny, too dull, etc.
Para-nature is like ordinary nature but mysteriously restricted so that it cannot ever explain any apparently paranormal phenomenon. The fact that the reasons why insects and dust cannot explain apparently paranormal reports varies with each case according to Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle.
Equally mysteriously, experts in para-nature do not study the objects they describe. Instead they decide, based on theory, what dust, insects and so on can and can't do. Anyone studying these subjects by quaint scientific methods quickly loses all credibiliity.
The world of para-nature is exciting, weird and counter-intuitive!
Half of all paranatural phenomena can be sensed by living beings but refuse to appear on photographs, videos, recordings, etc. The other half only appear on recorded media and can not be sensed by living beings (or at least by humans ... for some reason other animals don't seem to have the same difficulties).
Be skeptical of the things you believe are false, but be very skeptical of the things you believe are true.
If someone sees a mysterious object in the sky at night making a roaring sound, and with a red and a green flashing light, then it is obviously an alien spaceship. Because the alternative theory - swamp gas, is obviously less likely.

There is a bizarre variant of para-nature where natural explanations can be disproved by 'new' memories.
Example: there is a 'ghost' reflected in a mirror in a photo that looks like an ordinary person but it couldn't have been because 'there was no one there'.
If asked 'did you check behind you?' the witness may say 'I didn't hear anyone and the floorboards were noisy' despite having failed to mention noisy floorboards previously.

Hmmm... I think I've encountered other instances of para nature. A world where free fall speeds are different depending upon whether gravity is affecting ejected debris or a collapsing structure. Where steel is every bit as stong at 600oC as it is a room temperature. Where thermite is found in every dust sample from a collapsed building but can't be paint because paint is different in some way.
You suggest that these peculiar properties of para nature collapse when the scientific method is applied. However I see that para nature has it's own science. Peculiarly in para science people trained in chemistry perform para biology, people trained in physics become structural engineers. The annals of this cargo cult science appear to include bentham open journals and "Progess in Complexity, Information and Design"
Not at all. Using the 'whatever most people believe must be true' rule, it is clearly the truth. It is conventional scientists who have got it wrong!
More gems of para-nature:
* nothing but a ghost can set off a motion detector (insects, spiders, paranormal researchers etc are invisible to such devices during an investigation)
* if using a noise-triggered dictaphone in an empty haunted room, only EVP can set it off (this is because, being dictaphones, they respond only to speech!)
* in a haunted house, all noises must be made by ghosts since plumbing, machinery, etc goes into strictly silent mode

* Mediums and psychics are not subject to coincidence.
* if a 'paranormal photo' can be shown NOT to have been faked, it must be paranormal
* an orb must be paranormal if the photographer asked for spirits to 'show us a sign' at the time of exposure
* any object can, from time to time, display a human face which is really a ghost (or sometimes a deity)
