http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cri...hird-Test.htmlKevin Pietersen has spoken about the true extent of his achilles injury and has admitted it is affecting his performances in the Ashes Tests.
"To be honest it plays on my mind all day and every day. People who have had injuries know that it definitely does affect the way they play," Pietersen wrote in his column for the News of the World. "This is the first injury I have had and mentally they really get to you. I've had two injections in my back and I have had a cortisone and a homeopathic injection in my achilles.
http://muckrack.com/rhodri/statuses/2719767790Pietersen has already had a homeopathic injection and a cortisone injection in the tendon. The next one will be a saline solution with a small percentage of cortisone, which is intended to cushion the movement of the tendon within its sheath.
I wonder what was in itApparently Pietersen has had a homeopathic injection in his Achilles. Maybe give Flintoff some magic fucking moonjuice for his knee. Jesus.
A HOMEOPATHETIC INJECTION INTO A JOINT SPACE!!!!!
Introducing a risk of joint infection in order to administer a placebo!!!

Cortisone eh?
Being that cortisone is a type of steroid it is now obvious that the entire English cricket establishment is resorting to steroids in order to beat the Australians at cricket.
It is the death of English cricket!

Winning in sport is not just about skill, self belief is very important. So long as Pietersen believes in homeopathy it could work.
In the same way, I would never try alternative medicine because I don't believe in it. Therefore, I know it won't work for me. Those acupuncture needles would just hurt like hell ...
Another way of looking at it is, if one chooses drama queens who cannot tolerate the miniscule amount of pain that placebo transiently affects, then it is little wonder that the more robust South Africans, Australians, Pakistanis etc regularly hammer these faries.
His attitude that pain affects performance would be regaded in most sports as a lack of committment.

I keep getting this terrible feeling of deja woo.
I wonder whether it is a genuine homeopathic injection (pure water or saline), or whether this is another case of woowash* (like Zicam), claiming something with real medicinal ingredients (steroids?) is homeopathic (a) because homeopathic is seen as cool and (b) to get around drug efficacy regulations.
[* Have I invented a new word here? I was going to call it "homeowash", but people would probably think that was some sort of gay rights thing. Yes ... "woowash" ... I like it ... the practice of making something look like CAM because CAM is popular and mostly unregulated.]
Be skeptical of the things you believe are false, but be very skeptical of the things you believe are true.
Some people probably think that homeopathic steroids 2X are better than ordinary steroids 1% (these concentrations being identical).
Genuinely homeopathic steroids (pure water) would be great for sports -- totally undetectable. They might even perform better because of the placebo effect.
(Something like this happened in Asterix in Britain ... Getafix ran out of his magic potion, so fed the tribe a concoction by the local Druids instead ... called "tea".)

Why two injections (Of what) in the spine as well?
If it is an Achilles tendon, he should have seen an osteopath. A small heel lift will plantarflex the talo-crural joint slightly, taking some tension off the tendon. Or a light circular brace above the site of inflammation might be needed. Attention to the biomechanics of the foot might reveal problerms there that need rectifying. If there is a partial rupture iof the tendon, steroids could exaccerbate this.
He's out of the Ashes now - that homeopathic injection unfortunately failed to work. Was worth a try though.
Mousse from a bowl is very nice, but to put it on a person is demented!

I don't suppose it's related......Pietersen spent two nights in hospital undergoing a course of antibiotics after suffering an infection in the scar tissue around his right Achilles’ heel.
