Rather than trying to be right wing I just went for the answers that seemed most stupid and wrong to me and managed to get Economic: 10.00; Social: 9.03.

Can anyone get 10 for Social Libertarian/Authoritarian?

Perhaps we should reset to this position at the begining of the campaign then examine the manifestos debates and ancilary evidence presented rather through the filter of critical thinking rather than the narrow eyes of pre-existing predjudice. One way of approaching this might be to have someone strip policy statements from party labels and see which you find most appealing whislt blind to their origin.

Of course there's nothing against forming an opinion after applying critical thinking to an issue. The whole exercise would be rather pointless otherwise.
    Someone's listening to you.

    This Survey does exactly that.

I've not done it yet, I will in a minute. Apparently the results can be very surprising.

OK I've done it - not easy.

    50% Lib Dem
    25% Green
    25% Labour - OMG I don't believe that

Spent ten minutes doing the thing and then it came up with a message saying "sorry, site is down for maintenance".

Surprising - it's bloody infuriating! I spent ages going through the survey selecting policy groups etc in all the areas listed and then I entered my postcode and pressed the Submit button. Then I waited ............................. and waited .......................... and waited for a full seven minutes before getting:

"Oops! An error has occurred. Sorry, something's gone wrong! It's likely that we are performing maintenance so please try again in a while or head over to our home page and you might be able to find your way again."

A complete waste of 30 minutes.

There there, I'm sure it isn't!

To be fair, I've just clicked on the link again and it now says on the first page that the site is down, so they must have started it while Brianp and I were in the middle of our surveys.

I come put about where I'd expect...

    Economic left/right; -9.38
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian; -7.33

Had no problems with the site.
    Fun stuff!

Smudge - that result looks like it's from:

    http://www.politicalcompass.org/test

    Have you tried:

    http://voteforpolicies.org.uk

That's the one that's been falling over. I don't know if anyone else has tried it recently

I don't think this is gonna work too well, I can already tell some of the policies are from the conservatives i.e devolving power.

Re: UKS Forum members' political leanings

    My results: http://voteforpolicies.org.uk/survey.../4BDEC02904ECB
    50% labour
    25% lib dem
    25% ahem... BNP

    should be 75% labour

Well, I accidentally selected their policies on democracy instead of labour. And it seems I was wrong in my last post. LOL.
Edit: I didn't pick all the categories to save time so I don't think its really correct about me.

How the B****Y H**L did you manage to pick a BNP set? Which policy set was it - not immigration I'll bet!

I thought that the BNP and UKIP policies were pretty obvious - but then I suppose I didn't do all the categories either.

Of course the policy manifestos are to a certain extent fantasy - they don't really mean what they say - half the policies would be dumped if the party ever got in.

ETA - OK I see it was Democracy.

    Thanks Chaggle.
Political Compass I liked, the other I just tried. It got stuck when calculating my result! Was it something I said?!

Re: UKS Forum members' political leanings

Well the vote for policies site appears to be up and running. I felt a strong desire to pick a first and second choice on many questions.

Wasn't too surprised to get a rainbow in my results. Nor with where my leanings seemed to be. However there was a shock at the shallow end.

    33.3% Lib Dem
    22.2% Green
    22.2% Conservative
    11.1% Labour
    11.1% UKIP

It was on welfare that I blindly plumped for the UKIP policy set. Now I feel kinda dirty.
