There is allegedly a link between heavy internet use and depression. I suspect there is also a link between depression and having a grim life. Perhaps people go on the internet to forget their miserable circumstances?

I use the internet for several hours each day for work and leisure. I'm happy now, but I'd certainly be depressed if I couldn't get on-line any more!

The BBC article stresses that it is only a link, "Now we need to investigate the nature of that relationship and consider the issue of causation." Many of today's tabloids have gone for the "internet causes depression" sensationalism.
'Croydon' Bob Newman. The ladies call him "Thrush" - as he's an irritating cunt.
Make that unfounded accusation again and I'll cut your limbs off!
If you think I'm threatening then you haven't wandered far out into the wilds of the interweb. David Mabus, for instance, trolls around the net threatening to kill atheists and skeptics. Compared to the scum that you get in some forums I'm a lovely cuddly little fluffkin.
