Thread: Wem photo

    Wem photo

Is this really the solution? There is a thread on JREF where they do a close comparison. Obviously, such comparisons are limited by the quality of the photos that can be downloaded but they looks uncannily similar.

I think its a more satisfactory explanaton (and likely) than the photographer caught the image of a girl in a burning building who had already been dead for decades.

A FAMOUS photograph taken 15 years ago in which a ghostly schoolgirl peers out of an inferno appears to have been debunked as a fake.

Sorry to bring this thread back up to the top.

I know the brother of the gentleman who took the Wem photograph.

    It is a fake.

The brother spoke to his sibling after he took the photograph and "played" with it. He never told anyone how he did it but did admit it was his doing. Unfortunatly the gentleman has since passed away so I never got the the chance to speak with him myself.

    Yes but....

That just sounds like a classic "debunk". Someone told someone else something but now the first person is dead. Used to explain away flying saucers, fairies, monsters and all sorts of other things for which the only evidence is dodgy old photos.

Analysis of the photo is evidence. Your anecdote is consistent with the evidence.

The bit of this story that makes me laugh (apart from the whole idea that anyone should ever take these things seriously) is the way people thought she was a girl who died in the 17th C. Surely her clothing was a dead giveaway?

Yes Id agree with that, 3rd party stories do not carry much with me. But the fact remains that this was the original photographer and his brother. The alive sibling mentioned it to my hubby at work one day because he knew I was interested in ghosts.
Very little has ever been said about that particular photo, he showed it and let everyone else do the talking about it!!

That's an assertion - and without evidence an assertion is worthless.
