Nadia Sawalha endorses homeopathy and non-vaccination

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/ar...#ixzz0pao88oeV

The Mail's at it again, some snippets:

Far from being wacky, the NHS spends £4 million a year on homeopathy and there are four dedicated hospitals that have treated 55,000 patients a year since the formation of the health service in 1948.

An estimated 400 GPs use homeopathy in their everyday practice and treat 200,000 patients annually, according to the British Homeopathic Association.

For her eczema, Rachel prescribed mezereum, a Eurasian shrub extract traditionally used to heal skin complaints. 'The effect,' says Nadia, 'was what I can only describe as biblical. Over the next 48 hours, I watched as my skin renewed itself.
Nadia says her daughters Maddie, now seven, and Kiki, two, have never seen a GP and not had any childhood vaccinations. Rather, they consult the homeopath every few weeks.

Oh! And this at the bottom of the "article":

Yes, the whole article reads more like an advert using alternative medicine's favourite advertising tactic: personal anecdotes as evidence.

    I liked this bit:

Rachel prescribed a remedy in pill form. I've no idea what it contained
Nothing Nadia - that's the problem people have with accepting that they work: they contain no ingredients whatsoever. See: Homeopathic dilutions

It's always a shame to see 'celebs' endorsing such nonsense but at least articles like this highlight the fact that being famous doesn't mean that you're smart. I mean, not vaccinating your children!

Unfortunately quite a few celebs are less than smart, which is sad considering that the sheeple that worship them probably follow every dim witted thing they do and buy anything that they endorse. I still find it bizarre that so many medical practitioners actually endorse homeopathy, I mean do they really think it works or are they just in it for the money?

No, they just rely on most of the other kids being vaccinated.

Rather, they consult the homeopath every few weeks.
    Every few weeks?
Wonder how much that costs them.

Just when were the homeopathic hospitals formed. I thought it was a recent thing. Yes I could google it but I'm being lazy.

I'm ashamed to say that I am from Bristol

Homoeopathic medicine has been available in Bristol since 1852, when Dr Black first started dispensing from premises in the Triangle.

During the next 69 years the service developed and expanded culminating in the commissioning in 1921 of a new hospital in the grounds of Cotham House. The Bristol Homoeopathic Hospital continued to provide a full range of services until 1986 when the in-patient facilities were transferred to the Bristol Eye Hospital, where they continue to be provided, and out-patient services were moved to the ground floor of the Cotham Hill site.

In 1994, following the sale of the main building to the University by the Bristol and District Health Authority, a new purpose built Department has been provided in the Annexe buildings of the main building, adjoining the original Cotham House.

Looks a bit ... um ... like something at the end of its life maybe?

I hope neither Nadia nor her children experience anything like this.

Perth's Penelope Dingle, the wife of prominent Perth environmental and nutritional toxicologist Peter Dingle, agreed to be treated with alternative therapies and refused to have surgery to remove the cancer soon after she was diagnosed in 2003.

Instead, she adhered to a strict diet and regular homeopath treatments before becoming so unwell she had to have emergency surgery to remove a bowel obstruction.

By this stage, the cancer had spread and two years later, in 2005, Dingle died from complications of the cancer.

Just a little more on this case.

Nadia was on The Wright Stuff this morning spouting the same anecdotal "evidence" for homeopathy along with the usual "it's a holistic approach" line. Lowri Turner also seemed to share Nadia's liking of nonsense (why does that not surprise me?)

And please don't ask why I was watching The Wright Stuff, I feel ashamed enough as it is
I had it all...but I threw it away. Then I found it again, so that's alright.

I think you'll find Kyle is on after The Wright Stuff...doh! The shame, the shame!

Well, I certainly hope her children never experience anything like that as a result of their mother's beliefs.

As for Nadia, I hope she's no more or less likely to fall ill than anyone else, and that she would make sensible decisions if actually faced with a serious medical problem.
