    Novella on Organic food.

I remain unconvinced that there is any advantage to organic farming. This study, if anything, supports the conclusion that there is no significant difference. Organic produce tends to be smaller and denser, and may have slightly higher concentrations of some vitamins (but not significant in terms of nutrition and health), while conventional produce has higher nitrogen and certain minerals. This makes sense based upon the methods of fertilizer used, and is consistent with previous studies. Bottom line – these are minor differences with no real impact on health and nutrition.
Another impressive piece. But I expect I am demonstrating a bias of some kind.

Like the Alt Med brigades, I don't imagine the Organic pushers will lose too much sleep. They will simply point out that the issue of sustainability is their prime purpose and that food is about so much more than meeting minimal nutritional requirements.

I think it's been shown that eating organic is no better for you nutritionally.
What about environmentally? Anyone know what the evidence is? If farming organically is more sustainable and less damaging to wildlife the 'healthy' argument may just be a crap alt med type marketing blunder.
I'd have thought that this was the important question.

At least this group of Swedish scientists are not convinced.

I saw a show (wish I could remember what) that showed how much worse organic farms were for the environment. Unfortunately I really don't remember the details.

Here's a quick piece on it though. Organic is bad for the environment You can make your own conclusions.

Farming organically is worse for the environment. I've seen shows about it tons of times. It's funny because you show the evidence to organic lovers and they're still never convinced. Heres a link to why organic is bad.

Not impressed with that article at all.
Most of it is old news.
The first "myth" claim does not answer the question it poses. It shows eating organic meat may be worse than non organic meat. A no-brainer if modern meat production is itself is as environmentally damaging as I suspect.

The study Pebble posted is interesting. Problem being I have no doubt Friends Of the Earth have several studies with somewhat different conclusions!

I'll look into this more when (IF!) I get some time.
Anyone else come across anything then please post!
