Why is it that when a sport (like football or rugby)is being televised live, the clock is in the top left hand corner of the screen but when highlights are being shown the clock isn't there?

Also, when you watch so called highlights the edits often seem to include non-action or faffing about.

I was watching Rugby Union highlights on Sky the other day and the clock was there! Maybe they read this thread and acted accordingly.
