    trust me: i'm a healer

    on BBC2 now-10pm.

shaman Aziz offers treatments for cancer

    http://www.azizshamanism.com/cancer.html

All of his products sound like a 'nice little earner' for him. Do you think there's anything we can do about him?

I'm not 23 unfortunately, there was already a Kath, and I like the number 23:)

    I'm watching it, but I can't believe it's on.

He's just got rid of some water spirits. He's weaving some etheral twines or someshit with his hands.

And the poor old dear he's fleecing is so desperate for his help she's taking it all in hook line and sinker.

So, one's dead and one's not pregnant, even though he was sure everything would be okay. However, that's OK 'cos he's eccentric and the world would be a boring place without him.

If he's doing anything that could be described as advertising treatments for cancer or advice about treatments for cancer, it may be an offence under the Cancer Act 1939:
No person shall take any part in the publication of any advertisement—
    (a)
    containing an offer to treat any person for cancer, or to prescribe any remedy therefor, or to give any advice in connection with the treatment thereof;
See this story for a report of a conviction and some discussion of the act.

Only caught the first few minutes. :o

My concerns are of the use of ayahuasca
    see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayahuasca

With that kind of use of substance, the poor sods in the darkened room seemed in a 'bad trip' scenario to me >:(

I don't know what the hell is in there, but it's weird and pissed off whatever it is.

I suspect he will get people to sgn a waiver to say he is not responsible if they don't have a good time.

I only saw it in the background but it seemed to me that he was clearly delusional.

The programme took a non-judgemental approach. I think this is fine with such subjects as the 'healer' himself and his bizarre behaviour was enough for anyone to see him for what he is.

I think this is a series rather than a one-off programme. I wonder what other 'healers' we have in store?

I only got round to watching it last night.

I really don't know how the presenter managed to keep a straight face. The guy was clearly disturbed and delusional.

There should be quotation marks round that, right?

If not, do send the fairies my best regards next time you chat

    LOL to Jockey's comment

But this bloke's delusions are very 'useful' as they mean he can get £110 just for selling a bottle of water or whatever.

I missed this thread and started another...anyway...steven Turoff is on now on BBC2.

Randi exposed him as a fraud years ago (1980s) I think, as part of an ITV programme "James Randi: Psychic Investigator

Re: trust me: i'm a healer

Hi Dr B, this weeks bloke wasn't half as slick as last week's. For myself, I don't think he came out well from it at all. It was almost comical

The best bit was saying he wasn't going to talk to/be seen at work by medical experts because 'I don't want to go down that road. But that doesn't mean I've got anything to hide. I just don't want to.'

Which seemed rather transparent and he didn't cover it with any gloss of Spiritual reasons why, which most 'healers' would. Made him seem just a bit thick.

And now you say he's already been debunked by Randi, he looks even sillier

I'm not 23 unfortunately, there was already a Kath, and I like the number 23:)

Re: trust me: i'm a healer

    Hi Kath

Yes - i remember watching the Randi programme in the 1980s it was by far the best programme on the paranormal I have ever seen. Each week something new, dowsing, psychics, healers, etc.

There was a book to accompany the series and i have a copy - google it and see if you can get one (second hand) from somewhere.

Turoff was seen to be nothing more than a charlatan and fraud so i am not surprised he does not want to meet up with skeptics / scientists / medics.

His wife did not seem too convinced at times either - though convinced enough to take the money. 8)

The guy in the first episode, Peter Aziz seemed to be delusional. I'm going to link to my blog here just to save me typing:
    Trust Me I'm A Healer.

I have since watched several more episodes and we the other 'Healers' don't appear to be delusional, just plain old fashioned fraudsters.

I think it's time someone commissioned a new TV show debunking these people ?

I hate to sound like it's a conspiracy but in the programme it said one of the ladies was recommended to see him by 'Britain's chief druid'.

There's a whole subculture of people who believe such *$b! you wouldn't believe. I mean some pagans etc are ok but some pagan/new agers have such 'allergies' 'food intolerances' blah blah some people are supporting each other in all sorts of self-destructive malingering, as well as outright fraud.
